Programa de contenidos Teóricos y Prácticos

Teórico

  • PART 1: Consumption theory.
    • Chapter 1: Consumers' choice: preferences and budget restraint.
    • Chapter 2: Price changes and consumer choice. Individual and market demand function.
  • PART 2: Production theory.
    • Chapter 3: Technology and production.
    • Chapter 4: Producer's choice: benefits maximization and cost minimization.
  • PART 3: General Equilibrium.
    • Chapter 5: Efficiency in Consumption and Production.
  • PART 4: Decision Making Under Uncertainty.
    • Chapter 6: Preferences, budget restraint and choice under risk.

 

Práctico

  • The teacher will propose a set of practices (exercises, reviews of articles or cases studies) related to the program. Students will present a scientific paper or case study (15 mins with a clear presentation of the motivations, objectives, methodology and main results) in class. Students may also deliver an essay answering some questions (5 to 6) on the General Equilibrium topic.

Metodología docente

Evaluación (instrumentos de evaluación, criterios de evaluación y porcentaje sobre la calificación final.)

Evaluación Ordinaria

  • According to the Normativa de evaluación y de calificación de los estudiantes de la Universidad de Granada (last update approved on October 26, 2016), students' evaluation will be based on public and objective criteria and it will be primarily continuous.
  • Assessment will be conducted on an ongoing evaluation of the following aspects of student training (the weight of each item in the final assessment is shown in parenthesis): 
    • Class attending and participation (% of attendance * participation mark) (10%)
    • Presentation of one paper or case study (15%)
    • Problem sets (to be done at class) (15%)
    • Final exam (open-book) (4 questions) (Last week of December) (60%)

 

 

Evaluación Extraordinaria

  • Article 19 of the UGR Assessment Policy and Regulations establishes that students who have not passed a course in the ordinary assessment session (convocatoria ordinaria) will have access to an extraordinary assessment session (convocatoria extraordinaria). All students may take part in this extraordinary assessment session, regardless of whether or not they have followed continuous assessment activities. In this way, students who have not carried out continuous assessment activities will have the opportunity to obtain 100% of their mark by means of an exam and/or assignment.
  • Students who fail should realize a final evaluation in July based on the same criteria:
    • Presentation of one paper or case study (30%) 
    • Final exam (open-book) (4 questions) (70%)
  • The final evaluation in July will be fixed, no longer than 2 weeks after the end of the lecture period in December, if necessary and, at least 15 days before the exam.

Evaluación única final

  • Article 8 of the UGR Assessment Policy and Regulations establishes that students who are unable to follow continuous assessment methods due to justifiable reasons shall have recourse to a single final assessment (evaluación única final), which is an assessment method that only takes a final exam into account. In order to opt for a single final assessment (evaluación única final), students must send a request, using the corresponding online procedure, to the coordinator of the master’s programme, in the first two weeks of the course or in the two weeks following their enrolment (if the enrolment has taken place after the classes have already begun). The coordinator will communicate this information to the relevant teaching staff members, citing and verifying the reasons why the student is unable to follow the continuous assessment system.
  • Students authorized to this type of unique final evaluation would be evaluated using the following criteria:
    • Presentation of 1 paper or case study (30%) 
    • Final exam (open-book) (4 questions) (70%)
  • The unique final evaluation will take place in January.

 

Información adicional

INCLUSION and DIVERSITY. In the case of students with disabilities or other specific educational support needs (NEAE), the tutoring system will be adapted to these needs, following the recommendations of the inclusion area at the University of Granada. Departments and centers will establish appropriate measures to ensure that tutorials take place in accessible locations. Additionally, at the request of faculty, support can be requested from the competent unit at UGR for special methodological adaptations.
